Early Childhood Connections -
Early Childhood Connections provides Welcome Baby Baskets, home visits and playgroups for families with children ages birth through 5 in Battle Creek. While some services are based on family need, all families in our community are encouraged to attend playgroups and consult Early Childhood Connections with questions about eligibility and services available to families in our community.
Great Start Readiness Program -
GSRP, is a free preschool program serving four-year-old children of families that qualify. Children must attain the age of four by December 1st and meet state determined income eligibility and/or risk factors. The program focuses on building skills to ready students for the transition to kindergarten.
Head Start -
Head Start provides a classroom environment for children who qualify. The program is available to children who are three years of age, and four years of age by December 1. The program also provides educational experiences to families, which help them raise successful children.
Early Head Start -
Early Head Start provides full year/full day childcare for employed low-income families with children from birth to three years of age, and offers services to expectant mothers who qualify.
Early On -
Early On assists families with infants and toddlers, from birth until 36 months or 3 years of age, who have a delay in their development or a diagnosed disability.
Calhoun County 3 Year Old Scholarship Program -
The Calhoun County 3 Year Old Scholarship Program provides scholarships for 3 year old children to attend high-quality, licensed child care and preschool programs for one year. Eligibility is based on income and risk factors. The number of scholarships available is limited.

Great Start Connect is a state-wide database of licensed child care programs. Using this database, parents can search for available child care and preschool programs by choosing a variety of criteria such as location, hours of operation, and ages served.
